The Avenue of the Americas Association is thrilled to announce a surprise pop-up performance by music mogul Wyclef Jean, a Haitian-American musician and humanitarian, took place on Wednesday, August 16 at in the Plaza at 1221 Avenue of the Americas. The dynamic performance was hosted as part of the Association’s “Love the Avenue” campaign, which has demonstrated the enhancement of Sixth Avenue and Midtown over the past several years.

Sixth Avenue Zumba Class Experiences the Performance First-Hand
Jean’s performance took place during a Z Club NY outdoor Zumba class, where both participants and onlookers were able to enjoy the music. The class was part of a joint initiative between Z Club NY and the Avenue of the Americas Association to promote healthy and fun living through a series of free events. This particular class was enhanced by Jean who performed some of his classic hits ending with “What Happened to Love,” the lead single off of his upcoming album, “Carnival III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee” to be released on September 15th, 2017 via Legacy Recordings.

Three-Time Grammy Award Winner, Wyclef Jean, Promotes New Album
Wyclef Jean started his career as a founding member of the Fugees, an American hip-hop group that formed in the early-1990s. Since then, Jean has released seven solo albums that have sold nearly nine million copies worldwide, drawing inspiration from pop, country, folk, disco and Latin music. His eighth studio album will be released on September 15 and will feature contributions from The Knocks, Lunch Money Lewis and Emeli Sandé.
